Microsoft’s Azure Storage Access Change:

Microsoft is restricting direct access to Azure Storage managed by FinOps. Instead of using a traditional Connection String, a SAS Token must now be used

  • This SAS Token expires every 7 days, requiring frequent manual updates if no automated solution is in place
  • This change affects both .42 and .43 versions of D365, and some clients on .42 have already experienced disruptions

Action Required: Upgrade Lasernet Connector

To prevent service disruptions, Lasernet FO Connector must be upgraded to version 7.1. This upgrade ensures the connector can:

  • Automatically handle the SAS token for each report processed (with caching to avoid performance issues)
  • Maintain proper document handling and attachment functionality
  • Utilize a ServiceBus Queue to pass the required SAS token details automatically

Important Clarifications:

  • It is necessary to upgrade to Lasernet 10.10 or newer since previous versions do not support SAS tokens
  • The upgrade requirement specifically applies to the Lasernet FO Connector (not just Lasernet itself)
  • Without the connector upgrade, Lasernet will stop functioning in D365 .42/.43

Next Steps:

  1. Immediate Upgrade Planning
    • If you are currently on Lasernet FO Connector version 7.0 or older, an urgent upgrade to 7.1 is required
    • Any customer planning to move to D365 .42 or .43 should schedule an upgrade immediately
    • Formpipe has provided an updated standard configuration, which will need to be applied after upgrading
  2. Support & Resources
    • Formpipe has published instructions on their Support Portal regarding the necessary upgrade steps
    • Eleqtus is coordinating upgrade scheduling—we encourage clients to book upgrade slots as soon as possible

Key Takeaways:

  • If a client upgrades to D365 .42 or .43 without first upgrading the Lasernet FO Connector to version 7.1, Lasernet will stop working
  • Microsoft is already rolling out these changes, some clients on D365 .42 have already been affected
