The Lasernet Server setup has unlimited horizontal scalability. You can keep adding servers to the fail-over / load balancing configuration until you have reached the desired performance.


The recommendation is to add compute power up to 8 CPU/cores, 16GB of memory per server before adding additional servers or VMs to the environment.


Setting up an Active-Active load-balanced / failover environment requires the following steps:


1. Your first server will act as the primary server. This server will have both the Server Service license as well as the Developer license. All subsequent servers will only need a Server Service license. 

2. Install the Lasernet server on the additional servers. Ensure the Lasernet version is the same on all servers you add to the load-balanced / failover environment.

3. License each of the new servers via the License Manager. License only the Server Service. Leave the Developer unlicensed. Make sure to keep the instance name unique. If the primary server is called Prod, call the other servers Prod2, Prod3, Prod4, etc. You can keep the same port for all servers. 

4. Open the Admin Portal on the primary server, and add the new servers to the Server list.

5. Open the Developer on the primary server, and add all the servers under the Server option.

6. Click commit.

7. Deploy the configuration to all the added servers in the Developer Server list.


All servers added to the load-balanced / failover environment are now listening for jobs in the same Azure Service Bus Queue and Storage as the primary server.
